I found the doctors at MGH to be down to earthy, friendly and knowledgeable. Very approachable, and not intimidating to ask questions to. Great with kids, and just as importantly, parents. The place is a maze though so it takes time to figure out how to get around.
If you are going to stay for a while, I strongly recommend Beacon House which has rooms for patients at Mass General that are more affordable ($70 per night). They each have a small kitchenette and two beds and are in a very central part of Boston.
I had a heart bypass surgery at MGH at the age of 70 and with multiple other diseases ( I have diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol). My cardiologist at MGH was Dr. Ignacio Inglessis and and the surgeon Dr. Agnihotri who used the DaVinci for the surgery. My experience at MGH was nothing but superb- I was out of the ICU in 2 days and out of the hospital and walking in 3 days. The care was professional and just impeccable- everything from physicians to nurses to support staff. If you need a bypass and have the opportunity to go to MGH- please do! In my opinion they are just the best.
