Specialty :
My experiences here have been overwhelmingly positive. I especially appreciated the willingness to openly discuss issues and listen to my worries. I've had many experiences with doctors who are in a rush to push me out the door and get on to the next patient, so this was a pleasant experience.

Totally the best. I have lost nearly 70 pounds since my operation and it has given me a new lease on life. The doctors were superb!

blood work
on October 7, 2010
Specialty :Other
If you go in to have blood work done, you will be in and out pretty quick. I could not believe the system. There is about 100 to 200 people all in one
room, but there are like 60 people taking the blood. It is so organized, as I was just in awe of how well things are managed.

The doctors and nurses at the Mayo clinic really care. I always felt that they treated me like a person and not just a patient. This makes all the difference.

Kidney failure

Specialty :Kidney Disorders
My husband was transferred here for kidney failure and had to be on dialysis and in the ICU. He had a great outcome and we thought the hospital and its staff deserve the reputation of being the best. My husband is doing great! The tunnel to Barnes and Noble from the hospitals makes long stays for family members a little less boring.

Specialty :Cancer
I was seen at the dermatology department at Mayo for a melanoma ( an aggressive skin cancer). The doctors and staff always made me feel like I was in the best of hands ( I think I was). The hospital is top notch, the attention to patient care very personalized and comprehensive. I am doing really well after the excised the lesion and now go to follow up.

This hospital is superb but if you are here for a long stay like me then be aware that Rochester is very sleepy - a distinct disadvantage to having to spend an extended period of time in say Boston ...

triple heart bypass
on September 6, 2010
Specialty :Heart & Heart Surgery
I had a triple bypass for my heart at Mayo Clinic, not only am I alive but my hospital stay was characterized by excellent medical care, personalized attention and support for me as well as my family. At Mayo- cardiology and heart surgery they are not only good at medicine they are good at treating you like the complex human being we all are. The follow up care is very, very good also as well as the cardiac rehab.
