UPMC has very friendly office staff and customer service. However UPMCorporation all about $.
I spent 2 hours at infectious diseases last week. Most of that time I sat in a gloomy, stuffy patient room, with only the exam table or the folding chair stuck in the corner by the heater.
I saw a resident and all he did was feel my throat. He asked lots of questions and looked at the computer the rest of the time. Then he left and a doctor came in and told me to go see someone else. Thanks for taking my money. I'll go to a public clinic now.
I was seen here for anemia, they did a very thorough work up and rapidly reached a diagnosis, I was discharged and now followed as an outpatient. The physicians always explained all the procedures and tests to me and got my consent. The nursing staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. My family was able to visit me and my room was quite comfortable and nice enough for a hospital room. In general I think the hematology department is very good.
