I came to emergency a few days ago. The admitting and registration staff was outstanding. I expected to wait hours for tests performed and results. To my surprise everything was completed in a timely manner.... more I was placed in the overflow unit. I was amazed. The unit was neat and i would not have known the difference. While in the overflow unit i had many nurses and they were great. Justin, a nurse, was so great. After surgery i was a bit loopy but i was told he was entertained. This was not my first choice but will be from now on.
My Gastro doctor used Chandler Regional Hospital Outpatient room to place a device in my stomach. Before using the facility, they took my ID and insurance card, ran my insurance and told me I have to... more pay over $900.00 (I rounded to the whole $). Because my deductible is $1500 so I paid them that amount. I don't know what took them so long to submit the claim to the insurance. Because my insurance didn't receive their claim, I had to pay my deductible for other services I received and the plan year was over, I contacted my insurance and they still didn't receive the claim from the hospital. 8 months went by , I checked my insurance in July 2017 and still, the hospital didn't submit the claim. One day in late August 2017, I received the EOB from my insurance and found out I overpaid $499 to the hospital for the service in in November 2016. In that same day, I also received a letter from a collection agency for the amount of $68. It is unethical that they changed the amount of insurance discount and payment so I now owe them $68. I went to the hospital and was directed to a counter, the lady there said she is just a finance counselor but she helped me to look over the bill. I just gave her the letter from a collection agency and she said I am due for $499 refund. She then gave me a number to call, a girl from billing department stated that I have a balance of $68. I explained to her and she asked to wait for her to dig deeper. After waiting for about 5 minutes, she said she will forward the matter to upper management for review and if I overpaid, I will have the refund with 7-10 business days. I wonder why the hospital didn't put any effort to contact me before sending my info. to collection agency. I am very disappointed with the way they handled the bill. The pictures are below, my payment-which I paid upfront and my responsibility is just under $450)
My father was taken by ambulance to Chandler Regional after I found him lying on the floor vomiting and unable to stand when I drove up to his home to visit him. While the ER staff were mostly courteous... more (sometimes brusque but never rude), some of their care choices were baffling. They diagnosed my father with an acute urinary tract infection and dehydration, but then they proceeded to mark his chart as not being allowed water or anything else to drink, and they did not give him IV fluids. He sat with nothing to drink or relieve his dehydration for seven hours in the ER while waiting to be transferred to his room in the main part of the hospital. I wouldn't have even known this happened if his nurses upstairs hadn't mentioned it when doing a debrief in our room during their shift change. Not really the quality of emergency care I was hoping for my father. No complaints about the nurses upstairs though. They seemed knowledgeable, professional, and attentive to his needs. But I would suggest to those who bring a family member or themselves in to this ER to watch their doctors carefully and question anything that makes no sense. Do not instantly trust that because they are a medical professional that they are alert and making the best care choices for you or your loved ones.
