I went there when I was in extreme pain. I was yelled at by the on call OB doctor when the nurse woke him up because she saw I was having contractions. He said "He needs sleep. I'm sure you didn't think... more about anyone but yourself." ect ect. Then has me strip to make sure I wasn't leaking fluid. Nothing like getting a pelvic exam from someone who was yelling at you. When I said I was just going to sign out he comes in and yells more making me feel like I had no choice but to do the exam. He said I was fine. The nurse wouldn't stop apologizing to me for what he did. There are no words to describe how awful and violated I felt. I cried all the way home. Noone has ever treated me so poorly. I ended up going to sharon. Wonderful staff and doctors. Found out I was extremely anemic and had gestational diabetes. My new doctor said that the chance of me hemridging was extremely high. I'm so happy that I went to a new hospital.
Went to the emergency center and was quickly diagnosed with pneumonia. All those involved were more than concerned and super helpful.
After admission the testing for the specific strain of pneumonia... more was intense, once determined the appropriate antibiotics were administered.
The entire staff from R.N. to techs provided around the clock care and monitoring until my condition improved.
If anyone has anything negative to say about Charlotte Hungerford they need a psych eval.
Charlotte H. has to be the cleanest hospital I have ever seen.
The staff is top notch, even the wonderful lady who came by to help with my food menu showed concern when I wasnt asking for normal meals, my condition left me with a lack of appetite. The one meal they brought on the first night was outrageous! Three beautifly prepared slices of roast pork, steamed broccoli and potatoes and me with no appetite.
Charlotte Hungerford is a hidden gem with a caring staff and deserves more than 5. stars.
I had some positive experiences here, but also some really devastatingly bad experiences. After I got out of the crisis center on the seventh floor I entered the Partial Hospital Program, which was helpful,... more but then once I finished there, still very suicidal and in desperate need of support, a therapist could not see me again for over a month. And they insisted it be them and not elsewhere. This was really dangerous and made me feel like I'd been forgotten about, like nothing would ever get better. It was really scary, and in hindsight negligent of them. I also had an X-ray done because it was suspected that I had multiple broken ribs and they did the X-ray and told me I had NO broken ribs. I was distraught because I was in an overwhelming amount of pain and they would not give me time off of work where I lifted heavy things the entire shift. So I got another X-ray from someone else and turns out I had THREE broken ribs. Kind of impossible to trust them now.
