This place does NOT care about their patients. They have zero communication skills with any other department that takes care of patient. Nobody knows anything. Courteous people. Just lacking in other... more very important roles as a health provider. I will choose more wisely in the future.
I'll break this review into two parts, first the actual stay and second the billing process. We went to Doctor's Hospital for my daughter's birth. The hospital tested the backup generator while my wife... more was having a Cesarean, and the generator failed. The doctors stitched her up under the light of a nurse's cell phone. That is utterly unacceptable, and should never happen. Thank God they are okay.
Second, the billing process has been a nightmare. The date of service was September 22, 2016. At the time of writing this review, that was nearly two years ago. When I got my bills, my insurance covered most of them, leaving me with only my deductible. I paid the entire bill immediately upon receipt. The following summer (2017) they send me more bills. After hours on the phone, the billing department realized that they double charged me and that I did not actually owe them more money. It's an understatement to say that I was frustrated that I wasted hours of my life arguing over fake bills. Fast forward to the summer of 2018, I got another bill in the mail. This one was for over $1,400. Once again, I spent hours on the phone with Doctor's hospital trying to figure out where this bill came from. With the help of my insurance company, we got to the bottom of it. Doctor's hospital sent the bill to my insurance company but they never sent the itemized list (they essentially just sent a bill for a number and asked that the insurance pay it with no explanation). The insurance company requested that the hospital send a copy of the itemized, but the hospital never did so. After 180 days, this bill became past timely filing, meaning that the insurance company no longer has to pay it because the hospital failed to provide the itemized list (note that I have not received an itemized list yet either). The hospital, however, decided to just forward the bill to me with the hopes that I would pay them. After a long conversation with the billing department, I was informed that they would put my bill on hold while they send an appeal to the insurance company. They estimated that it could take 60-90 days. I had a feeling it wasn't over. Approximately two weeks later I got a bill in the mail from a credit collector.
It's is outrageous that I was sent to a collections agency, yet no one has seen an itemized bill yet. I don't know if the hospital lied to me over the phone a few weeks ago, or if they are so incompetent that they just failed to follow through again, but now my credit could be damaged.
At the time of writing this review, my issues have not been solved. I maxed out my deductible and payed every cent that I owed the doctor, but they continue to harass me. This has been the worst experience of my entire life. I implore everyone to go to University Hospital instead of Doctor's. They failed during our visit, and they failed in regards to the billing.
There are two reasons for this long review. First, I don't want anyone in my community to have to deal what I'm dealing with, meaning I don't want anyone to have to go to Doctor's Hospital. Second, I wish that someone from Doctor's Hospital would resolve this issue with me.
Poorly ran emergency room. My wife is 16 weeks pregnant and came in with severe abdominal pains. Sat 2 HOURS before we were taken back. Everyone before us went in. Absolutely ridiculous. We had our first... more child here and enjoyed the service. We WILL not be coming back here. They weren’t even busy! Not to mention, they didn’t even do an ultrasound of the baby to see if the child was fine!
