Year Established: 1919
Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital was established in 1919, the result of community efforts to establish a general acute care facility for Northwest Alabama. The facility is named in memory of Eliza, the daughter... more of Captain Alexander and Camilla Coffee, whose generous donation contributed toward the purchase of the first building used as ECM Hospital.
I was told I could pre-admit to the hospital M-F 8:00-5:00. I got there at 4:40 to simply hand them my insurance and driver's license- they had already closed for the day. I had to pay for parking for... more this wasted stop. I also live 30 minutes away- so this is not an easy errand.
On the website, a breastfeeding class was scheduled for July 18 6-9 pm. I had taken another class recently and had a great experience with it. I tried to call the offices a week before to confirm registration, left a voicemail, but the call was never returned. The website still advertised the class- so I drove 30 minutes from my house to attend. The instructor was out of town. And still had to park in the $1 parking deck. ECM disappointed me in 2 separate situations.
Rate of readmission after discharge from hospital (hospital-wide)
Rate - 14.8% (1.2% below the national rate)
