There are some nice, caring people here, but they do not have as many resources as they did a few years ago. For example, there is no radiologist on site (or so I was told). Films must be sent elsewhere... more to be read, which can cause long delays and wait times. You do not know the expertise of the radiologist. Patients need to know this to make an informed decision. Likewise, I had to pay an upfront hefty co-pay for imaging...and had no idea until the appointment was about to start. For these reasons, I’ve moved my followup/annual imaging/screening to another facility. It means more time off work, but no waiting to find out results—and that is ultimately less stressful. Addendum: They missed my IDC tumor. Granted, it was small, so I am thankful, but I am also glad I got that second opinion at a specialized facility. If I had waited a year--it could have been a dire situation, since it's invasive.
