Absolute disgusting and neglectful level of care for patients in the oncology unit. I am an RN, my grandfather was sadly diagnosed with a very painful form of cancer. My family and I spoke with the MD... more and attending nursing staff to ensure he would get sufficient pain control and comfort measures, as he is weak and in terrible pain.
We were assured orders had been written to address the matter. We were barely gone for 10 hrs and in that time we returned to find him in excruciating pain, soaked in urine, cold and neglected. The excuse from the hospital is and the attending nurse was that “ we should know this is to be expected in a hospital environment.”
We have now had to hire a professional to sit with him and make sure his orders are carried out and that he is not left in his own bodily fluids.
This is unacceptable, sad, and neglectful.
Avoid this hospital at all costs.
Summary: Nurses and doctors = 5 stars
Valet parking employees (including the manager)= 0 stars
My 20 year old cousin has been in ICU for the last week at Emory. From... more my visitations, and from talking to her parents and other family members who are there 24/7, and will be for more than likely a few more months, the doctors and nurses have been great. They really have. I'd even go as far to say that they saved her life.
The reason I can't even come close to giving a 5 star review: Valet parking. I have valet parked there 2 separate days last week.
The first, was at 2:00am, when my cousin was air lifted from Northeast Georgia Medical Center (Gainesville), and we drove as fast as we could to Emory. I parked, having no idea I was in valet parking. As you could imagine, we were very distraught and just wanted to get inside as fast we can. As with both visits, all employees were lined up, sitting against the wall, and one guy comes up to me, and literally grabs my keys, as I stopped because I wasn't sure why he was approaching me. ALL HE SAID was, "Give me your keys". REALLY? All he had to say was, "Sir, you parked in valet parking, and we need to hold your keys with a ticket attached". Apparently, I ask for too much.
Second, was this past Sunday, (10/15). I was with my mom. At this point, my whole family is aware of the ins and outs of Emory, and are well aware that the parking near the door is valet only. Of course I'm annoyed before I even get out of the car, because I know that I'm about to pay $8 for another horrific customer service experience. I was not wrong.
Once again, everyone sitting on the wall, except one guy who I presume is the manager (only guy with button up shirt, and blue in color) approaches us with this hands out stating, "I need your keys". Well I guess that's better than the other employee who said "Give me your keys". Must be why they upgraded him to manager, he's so courteous. And once again, grabs the keys out of my hand while I'm trying to get the valet key out of the key fob. I have no problem at all with someone asking if they can help, but I didn't, he grabbed them, did it himself, ripped a ticket, and walked away. We both said thank you, no response.
Do I think $8 for parking a car for 2 hours is expensive? Sure. If the service is good, do I really care? No I do not. What makes me mad enough to take my time to write this, is that you charge $8 for parking, and I have done nothing but receive the worst service from a company I have ever experienced in my entire life. Just plain rude people. Period. It is very apparent that the employees are paid hourly. May I suggest cleaning house, and bringing in people that work off tips?
It just absolutely floors me that you can have literally one of the best hospitals in the state of Georgia, if not the country or even the world, and that's how people are treated as they arrive.
I can assure you, there are plenty of other valet companies in the Atlanta area who would kill for an account like yours.
