James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre is one of two acute care referral centres in the central region. It provides a wide variety of emergency, acute care and specialized medical services.
It's unfortunate that Gander only has the one hospital. My uncle is there right now and has "slipped through the cracks". His condition upon arrival a couple of weeks ago and his condition now has deteriorated... more with little to nothing done about it. He has since fallen, bumping his head (as did another Uncle of mine who was unfortunate to have to seek the services of James Paton Memorial Hospital) and an MRI request that was put in almost a week ago somehow didn't make it to the department and he is still waiting.
