I have been a Kaiser patient since 1995 and have never had an issue with the care I received. In 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and once again I received excellent care from my Oncologist to... more my plastic/general surgeons. My doctors get 5 STARS.. However, my issue with Kaiser Zion occurred when I went to my recent oncology appt. It was in October and most people are aware of the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Well, when I walked into the department to sign in I noticed that there were no posters or signs of Breast cancer month. I was surprised that an oncology department wouldn't promote this month. So, I asked the receptionist why no decorations. She explained that their supervisor made them take all decorations down and it was to remain as none personal/generic as possible So not to offend anyone. WELL I'M OFFENDED! To make matters worse, I was told by someone that works in the department that there was a recent situation with a patient that was offended/upset by a nurses shirt that had a breast cancer ribbon on it and the nurse was made to take off the shirt. The department has a pink day, but no ribbons.
As a breast cancer survivor and an RN myself, I think Kaiser is letting a few determine the importance of this month and it's message. The message... Check your breast and for those with or have battled this disease.. We are behind you...
I'm just so irritated by this.. Who would have thunk an oncology department that is concerned about someone being offended by Breast Cancer Awareness..
Final note... One out of 8 women are affected by breast cancer, THAT is offensive!
Me and my family are very thankful with Jeremy RN , my daughter was at the emergency room on Friday September 15, 2017 he is the most caring and supporting person we ever meet at a hospital. He is an... more awesome person, very positive and helpful, also the hospital is very clean, first class. THANK YOU! from Sara Rojas and Family.
