Let me tell you about an experience I just had at the Lakeland ER. I had gone outside for a second and could barely walk. I'm scheduled for a quadruple-bypass, so obviously that meant something. I called... more 911. From the EMTs to the ER staff, not one person took it seriously. I was treated like a waste of time. So I blew up at them, as one would, and they had me leave. It took me two hours to walk home. It was so hard to walk that someone actually called the police about "somebody staggering". Think about that. The cop, of course, only needed to hear the story and I went on my way. To misquote Carroll O'Connor, get between Lakeland and your family in any way that you can. I assume this post, if you let it go up at all, will come down soon enough, so I'll have to copy and paste it elsewhere. In all likelihood, those people have signed my death warrant.
