Just wanted to leave a review for the ER staff when I came in with chest pains last week. You all rock, the three different nurses and the Emt guy and last of all doc mcdreamy! Hehe, y’all go ahead... more and give him a tough time you all deserve the 5 stars and some more laughs. Put my mind to ease while I was under your care, unfortunately I had to be admitted and go up stairs. There is where I found why the low rating was on google. Your staff upstairs could learn so much from you all in the ER, how y’all spoke how y’alls bedside manner works. Thanks for settling me down from the worry of possibly having a heart attack or whatever was and still is going on. If I ever have to go to the ER again I will force whomever to bring me there.
Taking my mother-in-law here was a financial disaster for her.
I urged my mother-in-law to go here one evening when she had some health issues. We went to the emergency room. On intake,... more we noted that she didn't have insurance, and asked about the cost. The lady who took our information said that it would be around $300-$400. The doctor saw my mother-in-law for about 5 minutes and verified that she wasn't having a stroke. She received no medication. We wanted to pay immediately, but the first lady was unable to find the pricing book. She said, "no problem. We'll bill you."
When we received the bills (two of them), they totaled $3000. The hospital even claimed that this included a discount for not having insurance! My mother-in-law is elderly and has no income. Even so, she has been paying what she can afford each month for months.
$3000 for 5 minutes of time and no medication is beyond absurd. The hospital's "help" for her is to allow her to pay this bill over years of time - not to look at what was actually done and to set a realistic price. We've tried calling and also talking to people when they call us, but no one wants to actually look at the price vs. the services rendered. The only answer is, "keep making payments." Thanks for that, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Very helpful.
I've had health issues which kept me in a hospital bed for a full day, receiving IV fluids, and having several blood tests, and the bill was 1/3 of this. There is no valid excuse for the financial damage caused by going here.
Edited to add: I've reached out to them again based on their response to my review. I'll update the review if anything changes (or if nothing changes).
Chad the MRI Tech and former Army Ranger/Medic is fantastic! I had a brain MRI with and without contrast today. Chad went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable as he explained the procedure to me... more step by step. He added polite conversation as he escorted me to and from the patient lobby, stopping briefly to wipe up some water on the hospital floor to ensure no one would slip. His attention to detail and the delicate manner in which he starts an IV line are top notch! If you need an MRI with contrast, request Chad. He’s simply awesome!
