The maternity ward at Bayview Hospital is actually a 5 star hotel. The nurses are all experience and friendly and can assist with anything you need. The biggest problem we had was choosing our favourite... more nurse, which was impossible! Food is amazing and the kitchen staff is also friendly and helpful. With nurses and staff this, Bayview can only excel!!!
Going to the hospital is not fun, let's be honest, so what really counts is professionalism and a little bit of comfort. My mother had to stay at this hospital for quite some time due to lung problems... more she had developed and she had to go on oxygen and be supervised for about a week. The first time I visited her, she had a lovely view and she had some privacy with earphones to help her listen to television programmes. Bear in mind that she had to spend hours there a day, not sleeping like other patients do, but lying or sitting up awake, just with constant oxygen feed. On my second visit I was VERY disappointed to see that she was moved to a room with a horrible view and she could not put the television as hard as she needed to, being hard of hearing. Alternatively there was no provision made, e.g for ear phones. This is very disappointing to learn.Otherwise, the staff were professional and friendly to visitors, which is important, considering how worried one feels to visit a sick loved one at a hospital
