If you are on Medicare you can expect enormous bills that won't be covered due to Mason General's special status as a rural hospital. If you are on Medicare it is best to avoid Mason General and its "family"... more of clinics altogether. Mason General and it's clinics do not have to accept the Medicare rates and they don't. If you can go to Thurston county for treatment do it. Otherwise be sure to apply for Mason General’s somewhat stingy charity care to help make up for the difference. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get charity care but it is worth it if you are well enough to deal with all the paperwork.
