I was told over the phone by a Kaiser nurse to go to an ER for my elbow issue and I chose McKee because it was close. It was on a Friday afternoon, July 13, 2018, at about 1:50 PM. I had excellent care!... more I thought I just had bursitis for two and a half days but I also had an infection inside my right elbow that was spreading in my arm.
I talked to a total of five employees related to my ER visit and also two cafeteria workers and a volunteer. Except for the woman who first checked my blood pressure, all eight of the people were kind and did their jobs well. The one exception was okay but maybe a little grumpy.
I walked in hungry so as soon as I placed my name on the reception screen and saw the 2:12 PM registration time, I headed over to the cafeteria for a quesadilla. I was back at the ER before 2:12 PM and a woman asked if I was Patricia. She had been looking for me for my initial registration. That was fast! I then saw the unfriendly woman who took my blood pressure and temperature. Right after that I was taken into the ER. The nurse came in and then the PA after 10 or so minutes. The nurse outlined the red swollen skin on my arm so I would be able to tell if the infection spread outside of those lines. Blood was drawn and they seemed to be sure I had an infection along with the bursitis, due to the swollen, warm skin on my elbow and my arm. I was given an IV of antibiotic and told the blood test did show some a high white blood cell count. I was given two prescriptions.
My entire time at McKee Medical Center was under two hours. I felt well taken care of and that I was treated kindly and with respect. It's been about 27 hours since I left there and my arm is better although it's going to take more time to be infection free.
We recently delivered our little boy at this hospital. Delivery rooms are beautiful, nurses and midwives are amazing, pediatrician was amazing. Just loved our experience at McKee. What really stands out... more though is that I had intense pain after my delivery. We didn't know what was wrong but the doctors and nurses tirelessly tested me and gave me ultrasounds unless they discovered that I had gallstones. They kept me in the maternity unit with my baby since I was already there and removed my gallbladder. I was watched closely and given lots of support to take care of my newborn while recovering. Really excellent care. I can't say enough good things about this hospital. The surgeon, Dr. Collins, was amazing also. Really excellent experience. Thank you, McKee!
I have been here many many times. Its always a long wait time while sitting in the er room. It takes at least 30 minutes to be seen by any kind of nurse or doctor. When you call to let them know the medicine... more isnt working, they make you come back in even if it has been less than 12 hours since you were there. I will never be coming back here again after yesterdays experience. Do not go here if you actually want to feel better.
