I went in having difficulty breathing for over 24hrs. They did about 5 blood pressure tests in a row; after the last test the nurse unknowingly left it on me and walked out of the room, and it auto-turned... more itself back on 5 minutes later. Since it freaking hurt I ripped it off and and asked the nurse why she left it on when she came back in, she said "oops sorry".
They then did an EKG and chest xray, I refused blood tests since I just had full physical with labs done by my primary doc weeks earlier and all blood counts were perfectly normal. Ultimately I found out other than slightly high BP, I was fine! They guessed I was having a sort of panic attack / anxiety. Must have been my first one, never felt it before, and strange since it was constant over 24hrs and I had no reason to be anxious or stressed. They gave me 1mg Xanax and told me to try to relax, which I was...other than not being able to breathe!
The Xanax didn't help at all, I even mentioned to the doc before leaving, that being over 6 foot and 200lbs I might need a little more than the avg dose, he said it'll be enough. It wasn't. (Of note, I avoid taking medications of any kind unless necessary like with a flu, I never had Xanax before that day). After suffering with it for another few hours I said screw it and went out to get some OTC sleep aids. Got home, took a few, and I was in bed snoring away breathing just fine within an hour.
Now I get to expect a several hundred dollar ER visit for confirming what ISN'T wrong with me and providing NO help. Those people are thieves and a waste of time. To be clear, the staff was friendly, I'm referring to managers, owners, hospital board, suit jockies, etc.
From now on unless I'm bleeding to death, I'm never going back there. I'm going to talk to my attorney and see what I can do to refute the bill.
When a pregnant women walks into your er bleeding blood literally running down her damn leg she should be seen right away not in a couple of freaking hours you guys are a joke and should all be ashamed... more of yourself. I hope you all rot.
