Ill tempered staff (Can you help me go to the toilet? *Points to iv drip in arm*) "I do not take care of you nor this sector" (nurse marches off)
Intern doctors who seem to have no idea what... more to do and keeps calling consultants. Rotates every week so cycle of confusion and helplessness repeats.
Long waiting hours to see doctor, twice as long hours to get a ward. Saw a man who just survived heart attack got asked to wait in line for an hour at the A&E post-registration queue.
Nurses dont consult their own in-house records and don't understand the severity of conditions. My father has blood infections with extreme fever and low blood pressure that comes and goes. It's all recorded on their systems. He was discharged from NUH just half a day ago after failing to diagnose the underlying issue. When it recurred and we went to A&E, the nurse said, "So what's the issue? Your vitals are all okay." So we had to wait more than 12 hrs, still havent gotten ward yet, while his high fever recurred and recurred, without a single antibiotic IV drip.
Doctors blame equipment for false readings, cancels CT scans, claim nth wrong. Disharged, then half day later warded back in hospital for 39 degrees, low blood pressure, and septicaemia again.
Their A&E nurses and doctors are some of the intolerant, ill tempered people I've seen.
(Can you help me go to the toilet? *Points to iv drip in arm*) "I do not take care of you nor this sector"... more (nurse marches off)
(My son still has very low blood pressure, it seems a little fast to move him to the observation ward?) "This is the emergency ward! And I'm a SPECIALIST!!" (Doctor glares angrily and walks away, implying he has the most authority and end of story)
The doctors and nurses in the general ward are very professional and kindly though, in very stark contrast to their A&E colleagues from customer service hell.
