HORRIBLE place to give birth. I had my daughter at this hospital in June, the care I received while staying here was appalling. I had 5... that's right...5 misplaced or badly done epidurals, that eventually... more led to me giving natural birth sunnyside up anyway. My first bad epidural placement, the anesthesiologist hit a blood vessel. The second she went too deep and gave me a spinal tap. I couldn't feel anything or move at all below the waist. 3rd, to undo the tap was done by a new, better anesthesiologist. He missed once then placed the 4th too high. This led to the epidural wearing off and no longer numbing me below the midsection. The 5th was a nightmare, it completely left my lower half in pain and migrated upward making my arms worthless and numbing me up to my breasts (all after the tap were wrong because of the tap, too many holes caused the medication to migrate). At that point it became dangerous and all anesthesia had to be turned off to prevent my lungs etc from shutting down. My labor and delivery were bad but no one's fault, just bad and incredibly long. The nurses, Ashley and Tish were incredible throughout delivery. Without them and the midwife Esta who was available that day I wouldn't have made it through. For them I'm thankful, they went far above and beyond and sternly but kindly kept me in the present. Anyway the day and a half I was in labor, I wasn't allowed more than 15 minutes of sleep. Even though they knew when I came in that I hadn't slept at all prior to going into labor. The staff wasn't on the same page about anything. The nurses I had after delivery were HORRIBLE. I had developed an excruciating spinal headache (from the bad epidurals). They didn't help me with my child who I couldn't move to care for, didn't help me with my pain, and tried to blame my headache and the bad epidurals on my anatomy. Thankfully the second and better anesthesiologist Ducey who actually cared about me and what happened, arranged for a blood patch at Charlottes spinal pain center. I had to wait many days though and the hospital sent me home screaming in pain. I also had to request footprints for my baby, among other standard things. I was also never shown how to care for myself while healing etc. I didn't feel safe here at all, and I'm really glad things didn't get worse because I don't think they could have handled it.
I also had a horrible experience after birth when I thought I might be hemmorraging. I had to wait 6 hours for treatment/to be seen.
