Shelley the blonde RN at the front desk needs to be retrained in patient treatment. Rude, uncaring, and her multitasking skills need a lot of work as well. Her abrasive treatment towards people coming... more in for help might be why they have her behind a desk rather than the actual care given to the injured or sick. The last thing anyone needs when they go to the ER is to be treated badly, and made to feel worse than before they walked in!
Do not deliver your baby here! I was set to deliver at this hospital as it was a Catholic hospital and was allowing me to do a VBAC. I had my first child at the LCOM in San Pedro and had a wonderful experience... more but unfortunately they are not equipped to accommodate VBAC’s and I was looking forward to trying for a natural delivery.
In my 39th week, I went to the hospital on three separate occasions in one week because I had immense pain in my lower back and abdomen. Each time they took me to labor area and monitored me on machines. They kept telling me I was not in labor( I knew I was not in labor since I had a child before and was not experiencing contractions) I explained many times I knew I was not in labor but something was wrong! All three times they sent me home telling me that there was nothing wrong with me and to take a bath and try to relax. I asked many times to speak with a doctor but was denied and told she was busy . The head or charge nurse was probably the worst one and was incredibly rude to myself and my husband. When I finally went into labor almost two weeks later(41 weeks) I refused to go back to that LCOM and had my baby in Long Beach. After trying for a natural delivery, I ended up having another emergency c-section, that’s when the doctor (Ha Son Nguyen) discovered I had a detached placenta. He asked me if I had experienced any pain or cramping and I said yes but when I went to hospital they found nothing and sent me home. He explained to me that they were probably only looking to see if there was any bleeding and since I didn’t have any(blood was trapped behind the placenta) they didn’t bother to investigate further. He told me that me and my baby were incredibly lucky and that if the detachment had been more severe I would have definitely lost the baby and my life would have been in danger as well. Please don’t put your or someone you loves life at risk by delivering at this hospital.
The doctor was rude. I didn't even get to talk to him after reading my diagnosis, which was not right. I hate going to the er here now and will only go if necessarily needed because I have had tons of... more bad experiences here- long waits, unprofessional staff. I am starting to not want go here anymore after many years of dedication. They make me feel stupid, when I have real issues going on!
