Went to Advocate Sherman Hospital emergency with a swear chest pain. After initial tests they found nothing wrong with my heart. It was around 5:00pm on Sunday afternoon when i was done but was told to... more stay cuz they want to do one last test(heart stress test). But it was very disturbing to find out that they did not have anybody available to do the heart stress test.I was told to stay over-nite and they will do the test first thing in the morning.i was worried about my health but at the same time I was thinking about what it is going to cost me to stay over-nite.I mentioned my concern to the doctor and they told me it is going to be covered under the emergency visit and I just have to pay the co-pay which was $300 per visit with my insurance. After that i decided to stay and call my work to let them know I will be in around 10:00am.
Next morning I was expecting to be done by 9:00am, but they did not do the test till 5:00pm.I could not go to work and was more worried about my job than health.I did complain to the hospital administrator who was very rude.Anyway I came home monday night after spending almost 36:00 hrs in hospital.
A month later I received a bill as expected from my insurance which was for $300.00 co-pay for emergency visit.I paid the bill and thought its all done and over with. But 3 months after my visit I received another bill from Apollo Hospital for $440.00.First I thought i never went to that hospital and it must be a mistake but when i call them to straighten that out I was shocked to know that the were charging me for the doctor visit during my over-nite stay at Sherman Hospital.
My insurance only paid $110.00 and I was stuck with the rest.
It was so frustrated after calling the hospital for so many time to get it fixed.Everyone i talked with was sympathetic but told me there is nothing they can do about it.So I will have to pay it.
1) why there was nobody available in one of the biggest hospital's emergency to do the stress test?
2) why they send the doctor to visit me when all i needed was a simple test?
3)Everybody I talked agreed with me being billed wrong but nobody could reverse the charges?
I would not recommend this hospital even to my worst enemy.
Hospital is great, as the 99.5% of the ER's stuff. The volunteer department "leader" Dina Lunceford is irresponsible hysterical not medicated, and running in circles borderless solicitor. She is lying... more for months, overcharging for uniform after taking $15 for the $20's one she sent email requesting even more- $25. She is never at work OR on time, more time on paid vacation than at work. She only sends: "we need your time and money, give us more" and never thanks. She is promising never meaning it. She does not care for volunteers, never write a recommendation letter stated on her paper contract. All week kid in a college gets her three weeks nonstop requirements to volunteer Mon., Tu., We., Th. shifts at 8:00AM being at college at the same time and donating not existed weekends. NO one ever meet a volunteer for the first time, your found your way to your department on your own. Overcrowded by the paid stuff and volunteers front desk is always non stop eating, texting, and "busily" chatting team not caring even to show your directions, Mrs. Lunceford does not care about any of them ; Mrs. Lunceford's emails goes viral about personal matters to the endless circles of never being introduced or even working any more people, not to say spent a 20 seconds to reply. She never will tell you she will send your email about personal matter to the people you never know, never met, who does not care or even work any more. She looks cheap and with doubtful morals running with nude shoulders and in nude color pants looking like an absent of any attire at at all on her. She is not self aware. She spams almost on a daily matter your mail box by requirements to take her disorganized dusty never cleaned in the years of Dina's here office garbage and outdated non-medical topic magazines and other garbage she wants volunteers to dispose at hospital's department and ER. Critics was never present here, as a honesty or any basic morals. Think a second!! A volunteer will care a 17 -min walk trip to the ER her dusty infected museum newspapers good for the trash only!? She does not care to think or consider of patients, other people, or consequences. The heartless creature running in the hospital is abusing our tax money and never works, but take advantage of people and stuff. She sells not existed opportunities and recommendation letters if you follow HER foggy rules she changes as her multiple faces. God Will punish this mother of two poor kids. She makes you wait her for "meeting" always busy with "own" chats, and after 5 hours driving and in hospital already volunteering can say: "come tomorrow to see your department." The reason I travel 2.5 hours to and back at 105F she ignores. Her sick self esteem makes her feel good creating problems. and doing cheap manipulations "covered" the hospitals need she is paid her $$ 70-80K annually to complement damaged self-esteem. A "sweet" irresponsible, "goofy bowl", chronically absent or late disorganized sociopath No questions why here are so poor volunteering service and so depressing attitude. I wish her personally one day be a patient here and experience what she is doing to other. She is always "high" and inappropriately happy and laughing, laying about not existed appointments and never at work. Never deal with Dina - Liar - Lunceford.
After a stay at the emergency room, the hospital used the wrong address and we received many collection notices due to the multiple bills that are sent. After giving the correct address after the first... more call, we still continued to receive collection notices because they didn't update their system. Just received another notice almost a year after the stay.
There is a second star due to the fact the staff did a good job.
Rate of readmission after discharge from hospital (hospital-wide)
Rate - 15.7% (0.3% below the national rate)
