The establishment of a hospital for Brno was first openly discussed after the end of the Second World War. A feasibility study was then carried out by Ing. arch. Bedřich Rozehnal. The construction of... more the new health center was only begun at the end of the 1960s however, based on Ing. arch. Miroslav Spurný´s plans. The year 1989 saw the inauguration of the wing with a capacity of 1020 beds – the dominant building of the present hospital. Construction of the hospital complex was then halted and did not resume until the end of the 1990s according to the proposals of Ing. arch. Miroslav Spurný and Ing. arch. Zdeněk Jánský. Upon completion of the hospital complex, the Faculty Hospital Brno initiated cooperation with Masaryk University of Brno on a university campus development project.
