I am a licensed, clinical therapist in the state of Georgia, whom recently chose Emory Wesley Woods to treat a beloved, geriatric family member, whom was in a mental health crisis, due to their reputation... more as a premier Geriatric Psych program. Well, it was a HUGE mistake! The Geri Psych inpatient program had merged with the Behavioral Health program (think involuntary 1013 psych patients whom are acutely psychotic, disorganized, disrobed and intrusive) due to a low census and my family member (entire family really) couldn't wait to get discharged. There was absolutely NO therapeutic milieu (rap music piped into the day room, only two fishing lure magazines on the rack) and the MH techs didn't engage my loved one nor were there any groups on the long, holiday weekend excluding one group that was poorly facilitated. My loved one didn't receive any assistance with instillation of insight into their MH condition nor coping skills. (I advocated. Believe me.) It was unbelievably poor patient care. I complained to management more than once but nothing happened. They didn't even return my loved one's personal belongings upon discharge. I had to return to the facility to retrieve them! I will NEVER refer another client to Emory Wesley Woods.
