ER doctors treat patients with chronic illnesses pretty terrible if they state they have a pain contract & do NOT want narcotics! Going so far as telling patients I’m not giving you pain medication... more and dismissing patients with real medical issues that need to be treated who are more than willing to just deal with the pain... without addressing the issue!
Additional problems. 75 y/o ortho patient (broken hip) got a systematic infection from surgery was sent to Northeast rehab (who sent her home with a raging infection throughout her body & the wound was OOZING bright yellow puss, swollen, hot, fever, unable to eat (previously healthy woman who loves food)!
After spending a few days at home we brought her back & this hospital delayed surgical treatment for a few days (scheduling conflict) & for several days York Hospital even delayed putting in a picc line so she could go home! (They even had a large viral outbreak putting her in much further danger than she was already in... now she is home with a virus & an infection) When I spoke to hospital administration the head of nursing came in to explain another patient took four hours which delays everything in special procedures and said sorry... honestly NOBODY wants to hear excuses when a hospital has given a serious infection to a patient then pushed them off for THREE DAYS!! Just get it done people if you kill my mom I’ll do my best to close your doors because it’s been one thing after another this is no longer a mistake this is negligence or stupidity your choice?
Leaving a 75yr old woman who was already immunocompromised from existing health issues & this new nosocomial infection waiting days to get a 20min procedure to allow her to leave the place that almost just cost her life! That is unforgivable!!!
The nursing staff is completely over worked & understaffed! This entire hospital needs to be Re-evaluated the inpatient floors at this time are totally understaffed and should NOT be taking new patients if they cannot treat the ones they have!!! Meds were not given in a timely fashion (antibiotics that were to be given on an 8hr schedule, nurse could not reach her to go to the bathroom for upto 45minutes (yes I timed it after several 30+min waits) having patient wet the bed more than once after ringing the bell & waiting patiently just started to encourage her to stop drinking fluids!!! That is UNACCEPTABLE
I guess we should have listened to the US News & World reports and consumers reports articles about infections at York Hospital & gone to Boston because obviously there is a problem!!!! So far it’s been 5 weeks of hell & it’s not getting better any time soon! Dr Tyler Welsh in orthopedics definitely NOT a surgeon you should ever allow your family member to see especially an elderly woman as his disrespectful attitude on top of the fact he has really screwed up... never OK! Stop saying “awe you poor thing” when you are talking to a human with a fully functioning mind... they will get very very ANGRY especially if you already screwed up, given mixed information & then in your office have them stand (when they are unstable on their feet due to the infection you gave them) for over five minutes while you excuse yourself to get “special bandages” & leave your patient with her pants down, unsteady on their feet, shaking, extremely anxious & in pain! NOT a good start to your medical career!!!!!
